Nashville – The Music City

(seated in Henry’s coffee shop enjoying my Chai, strongly flavored with cinnamon and cardamom 🙂 )

Year 2011 – When my close friend was all set to leave India to pursue higher studies in USA, I told him “I’ll join you very soon, probably in a year or 2”. Unfortunately it didn’t happen in 2 years but instead I did after 3 years.

So here I am waiting for him to pick me up in St Louis bus station at 3:00am in the morning, all excited and eagerly looking forward for my first long road trip here in USA with close friends from undergrad school. We travelled during the long weekend break for Independence Day and the plan was to visit, Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanoonga and do a short trek to explore Ramsey Cascade falls in Smokey Mountains.

En route to Nashville…

The traditional celebration for Independence day in Nashville which is well known in the country includes free concerts, featuring a range of music from country stars and the Grammy-winning Nashville Symphony followed by what is now recognized as the largest firework display in the South and one of the best in the USA.

I loved the way the bars where set up and also the country music played. “Party Hard” was the slogan in all of the pubs. Being a non-drinker, I still had fun listening to the music and watching people dance. Good time !
